What Rat Fink & Ed "Big Daddy" Roth Means to Me.
Growing up, Rat Fink stickers adorned the back of my bedroom door, and my great-great-grandmother proudly displayed her Rat Fink collection on the windowsill in her bathroom. Never did I imagine that I would one day work for Ed "Big Daddy" Roth the creator of Rat Fink. While I've collected Rat Fink stuff most of my life my fondest memories will revolve around the time I spent working with Ed. Ed affectionately called me 'Gator' for about the first month I worked for him. He frequently sent gifts to my son, they was always funny. Once he sent a coupon book filled with free pizzas, I think we feasted on pizza every day for a complete month. When Ed moved to Utan, he sent me a VHS tape, giving me tour of the outside of his house and his studio. You can see the video here.
The time spent working with Ed holds a special place in my heart. Working with Ed was an honor, and he imparted invaluable lessons about life, art, and the business of art that I still apply today.
Rest In Peace Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Thank You.
